A GLANCE INTO A MASTERS STUDIO:

Odd Nerdrum

It was with great delight I discovered Odd Nerdrums paintings in my teens. But it took a few years before we met. Odd and his wife Turid opened the door to a world where the masterpiece was nothing passé and fit for a museum, but very much alive and virtuosity present. It has been very important for my work every day since.

Odd Nerdrum images are in my eyes something especially. They carry a message. Where other painters suits their pictures as best in tails, Odd makes his work into something resembling a magic woven blend of spiritual vibrancy, pale translucent skin, gold and brocade, dirt, blood and soil.

It's like watching magic in vivid expression to watch him paint, hand flapping movements, quick strokes and painting come to life. And although it seems to be a effortless action for himself, it is almost impossible to achieve the same effects for others who have the ambition to create a masterpiece.

Everyone who have been inside Nerdrums studio knows what a magic experience that is.

  1. Flotte bilder og herlig beskrivelse av å se ham arbeide. Måtte bare kommentere og skryte litt av undertegnende også. Satt med akkurat samme følelse av å se deg male Jonny, og de nye bildene dine er bare helt fantastiske!
